FAQs
Why choose Lares over the Inca Trail?
Fewer people, local weaving villages and no permit requirement, with a shorter, less steep route.
Can I visit a weaving community?
Yes, a stop in a Quechua village with a demonstration is part of day 2.
Is the altitude high?
The highest point is 4,400 m, so a few days in Cusco beforehand is recommended.

Real stories from people who explored Cusco and Machu Picchu with us.
The Salkantay trek was tough but so rewarding. Beautiful camps, a very caring team and plenty of support at altitude. I would book with them again without thinking twice.
Perfectly organised from the first message on WhatsApp to the last hug at the station. Small group, fair price and a guide who truly loved sharing his culture. Highly recommended.
Our guide knew every stone of the Inca Trail and made the four days unforgettable. The camp crew was incredible, the food was better than most restaurants, and arriving at the Sun Gate at sunrise gave me chills.
