The Classic Inca Trail is limited to 500 people per day, including guides and porters, so permits sell out quickly. This is what you need to know before booking.

How far ahead to book

Permits for the high season (May to September) are often gone 4 to 6 months in advance. Book as soon as you know your dates.

What you need to provide

  • Full name exactly as written in your passport
  • Passport number and nationality
  • Date of birth

Permits are not transferable

Once issued, a permit cannot be changed to another name or date, so double-check your details before paying.

No permit available?

The Salkantay and Lares treks do not need a limited permit and are great alternatives with equally beautiful scenery.
